Documentary released spotlighting Texas women at the forefront of groundbreaking post-Dobbs lawsuit

Premiering in August 2024, Zurawski v Texas follows the first US lawsuit brought on behalf of women denied termination care since the Dobbs decision in June 2022. With seven original plaintiffs in March 2023, by November 2023 the case grew to include 22 Texans – 20 women with serious pregnancy complications who were denied critical medical care and 2 OB-GYNs. The film follows three plaintiffs, Amanda Zurawski, Samantha Casiano, and Austin Dennard, in parallel with the Center for Reproductive Rights legal team. Amanda treks through her journey trying to have a baby with her husband via surrogate, Samantha undergoes a tubal ligation to prevent potential trauma from another Texas pregnancy, and Austin provides perspective of both a doctor (an OB-GYN herself) and a woman who received out-of-state care following a fatal fetal diagnosis. The documentary powerfully spotlights both the painful public courtroom testimonies and the private family grief, showcasing how each woman copes with the never-ending impact of Texas reproductive health laws.
